On my way home from work tonight it was getting pretty dark. I don't know why, but there was a man standing by the side of a busy street looking like he had nothing to do. His name is Brian. I pulled up next to him in my car and handed him a gospel tract. Here is a bit of what we talked about:
Me: Brian, what will happen to you when you die?
Brian: I'll go to heaven.
Me: Does everyone go to heaven?
Brian: No.
Me: Who goes to hell?
Brian: Those who are not saved.
Me: Brian, let's say that I have a knife in my back and I only have one minute to live. What must I do to be saved?
Brian: Ask for forgiveness.
Me: Please forgive me. Is that it? Am I going to heaven?
Brian: I don't know.
This is when I shared the gospel with Brian. The knife in the back analogy is a very effective way to assess if someone truly knows how to be saved.
