Day 101- My Beliefs are Personal

When approaching a pool, do you stick your toe in the water to check the temperature or do you dive right in? When witnessing, I sometimes jump right in to see what will happen.

Waitress: Hi guys! Welcome to …..How are you?

Me: Well, if we were to die right now we would all go to heaven. How about you?

Waitress: I would too.

Me: Good.

She then took our drink order. Now that I had jumped, I then spent the rest of my meal wondering where to go next. It wasn't until after I had eaten my meal before I followed up with my favorite question.

Me: So do you have a church background?

Waitress: Yes. I go to ….

Me: Will you be celebrating Easter tomorrow?

Waitress: Yes.

Me: What does Easter mean to you?

Waitress: Oh, you're going to put me on the spot. I don't know. I'm at work. I don't think about stuff like that when I am at work.

She walked away and returned with our check.

Me: Did you have time to think about it?

Waitress: Look, my beliefs are very personal to me. I know that God loves me and he knows my heart, and I am quite satisfied with that. I don't have to go to church. Plus, I work all of the time.

Me: I understand. Good Friday was the day that Jesus was crucified and tomorrow we celebrate that He rose from the grave. If He doesn't live then Christianity is dead.

Waitress: I know. I was just talking about that the other day.

After the meal had been purchased, our waitress seemed a little cold and distant. I upset a lot of people who tell me their beliefs our personal. I am just thankful that wasn't the philosophy of the apostles.
