Two bikers were getting gas when I approached them with a few gospel tracts:
Me: Are you guys going to church tomorrow?
Mike: (Smiling as if annoyed) I might. My wife has been nagging me about it.
Me: I bet I could help you desire to go.
Mike: Really, how can you do that?
Me: I could give you a good person test. Would you consider yourself to be a good person?
Mike: I am.
I walked Mike through the Ten Commandments and he was not a good person compared to God's standard. I then gave Mike the good news. Afterward, I returned to his original church problem.
Me: Do you know why I go to church? Because I'm grateful for what He did for me. In that while I was yet a sinner, Jesus died for me. That is why I desire to obey all of His commands.
Mike: That makes a lot of sense (reaching out his hand for a shake). I appreciate what you just did. I am now highly motivated.
I told Mike where I attend on Sundays and encouraged him to visit. His friend quietly listened, and he did not participate in the conversation. Before we parted ways, I stressed to Mike the importance of feeding on God's word. If we love Him, we will desire to hear what He has to say.
