Day 233- Private Worship

I was making reservations for a hotel when the lady on the phone asked me for the purpose of my visit. I told her that I was going to preach at a church in the area. She said okay and began to log the information. I used the break in questions to ask, "Where do you go to church? I may be preaching where you attend." She said that she was too busy for church. I then asked, "If you were to stand before God and He were to say 'Why should I let you into my Heaven?' How would you answer?" She said, "I don't know." I asked her if she had ever lied, stolen, or blasphemed His name and she told me that she would be guilty of breaking His laws. She admitted that she would go to Hell if judged by perfection. I told her that the reason I attend church is because he died for me. He commands us not to forsake the gathering of believers. Therefore, I obey because I love Him. She responded, "I believe that I can worship Him in the privacy of my own home. I don't believe that I will go to Hell because I don't attend church." I said, "I agree. It's not about attending church. It is the object of you faith. If you are trusting in Jesus, you will be saved. If you are trusting in your own goodness, you deserve Hell." She will be working when I arrive tomorrow and I look forward to following up on our conversation.
