What do you think would happen if I approached a man at a bus stop wearing a black stocking cap, camouflage jacket, long black hair, and a thick beard? When I approached Norman, all sorts of things were going through my head. Would he be an atheist or perhaps a Satan worshiper? What if he chews me out and tries to take a swing at me? This dude looked mean. Well, here is how it went.
Me: Hi, I brought you some reading material while you wait for your bus.
Norman: Thank you.
Me: It's a gospel tract. Do you have a church background?
Norman: Yes.
Me: What do you think will happen to you when you die?
Norman: Christians will go to heaven and sinners will go to hell.
Me: How do you get to heaven?
Norman: Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, and then get baptized.
Me: Are you trusting in Him?
Norman: Yes, I am (with a gentle smile).
What? Norman was a Christian. After we spoke a little longer, I got back in my car and asked the Lord to forgive me for my initial perception of Norman. Norman turned out to be a sweetheart.
