I enjoyed yesterday's phone call so much, I decide to google another false religion today. This time I searched for "New Age Spirituality and Phone." Almost immediatly, I found a new age website with a phone number. I called the number, and a lady named Denise answered the phone. She was more than willing to answer some of my questions.
Me: Denise, what is the biggest difference between new age spirituality and Christianity?
Denise: For starters, pagans do not worship a Christian god. We are more earth-based in our thinking. I believe that there is a god in nature and that is what I choose to worship.
Me: What will happen to you when you die?
Denise: I believe in different levels of energy. I am at a low energy now, but later I will go to a higher energy.
Me: I don't believe that, am I wrong?
Denise: No, not really. What I believe is from my heart. If you believe something else in your heart, then that is fine. No one can really know. I serve a god of my understanding, but no one can answer why the world is the way that it is. People are doing horrible things and who could honestly understand why all of this is happening?
Me: Has your heart ever lied (yes)? Has it stolen (yes)?
Denise: Look, I am a recovering drug addict. I have done a lot of wrong.
Me: Then why would you trust your heart?
Denise: My heart isn't like that anymore. I now listen to my inner voice. Before I wouldn't listen. I was too self-centered.
Me: Have you ever read the Bible?
Denise: Yes.
Me: Then why don't you have the answers to why people do horrible things?
Denise: There are a lot of books on that topic. How do I know which is right?
I explained to her why I believe in the Bible and then shared the gospel. However, the heart that she is trusting was very hardened to the things of God. I always like to end on a positive note so I thanked her for her honesty and time. She responded with a friendly, "No problem, Ryan. Bye."
